TCGplayer Authentication Center study, read directly from the primary article (Peter Day, published 2026-07-21 for the 2026-07-17 release): more than 4,000 Pitch Black booster packs opened, per-tier rates with 95% confidence intervals computed by normal approximation - Double Rare 21.02% +/-1.21, Ultra Rare 8.30% +/-0.82, Illustration Rare 11.01% +/-0.93, Special Illustration Rare 1.25% +/-0.33, Mega Hyper Rare 0.09% +/-0.09. TCGplayer's own reading: the rates are effectively identical to the earlier Mega Evolution Series sets (Phantasmal Flames, Perfect Order, Chaos Rising), which are all similar sizes, so odds on a specific card at a given rarity are near-identical across the four. The Mega Hyper Rare interval (+/-0.09 on 0.09%) is as wide as the estimate itself - at roughly 1 in 1,081 packs this tier is barely resolved by a 4,000-pack sample, so treat that single card's rate as the loosest number in the table. One Mega Hyper Rare card; no ACE SPEC or regular Hyper Rare tier.
